I've done something and now have a number of files with the suffix ~sgXX~
where XX seems to be a per file, incrementing number. What are these files
and is it safe to remove them? TIA!

those are backup files. we create them, for example,
when you do a revert or delete of a modified file.

compare the output of a "vv status" and a "vv status --no-ignores".
the ~sgXX~ files should show up as found.

and yes, you can delete them.

with all the standard 'be careful' disclaimers, some commands do take
a --no-backups option if you want to give it a try.
